In 1 Thessalonians 4, Paul reminds the Thessalonians as followers of Christ they are called to be set apart and to take advantage of the resource given to them, the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we have something living in us to help us overcome the temptations of this world, the Holy Spirit. Take advantage of the resource God has given you. Apart from Him we can do nothing. Someone who doesn’t know God lives a life influenced by the flesh. Someone who has been born again lives a life influenced by the Spirit of God living in them. Paul calls the Thessalonians that one way they can live a life set apart is by abstaining from sexual immorality and youthful lust. We have to be disciplined to pursue righteousness and holiness. We must flee from the desires of the flesh. Take advantage of the Holy Spirit living in you. Be disciplined enough to listen to the Holy Spirit. Does the world see a difference in you and how you live? Listen to this sermon about overcoming temptation and pursuing a disciplined life of righteousness in the ninth part of our In The Word series walking through 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians.
