In Philippians 2:1-5, Paul is talking about being unified with the same attitude. As citizens of Heaven, we are called to live lives worthy of the gospel, and that includes having the same mindset of the gospel so that we can serve one another humbly. If we want to walk in gospel unity, it is driven by the love of Christ. We must do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit. It’s not just taking care of yourself but taking care of others. Always have a lens on to see people the way Jesus sees people. Gospel unity apart from agape love can’t happen. Gospel service apart from the love of Christ means nothing. What is our focus on? Is our focus on ourselves or on Christ? What’s the driving motivator in our humility? If our focus is on Jesus, then gospel unity is possible, but we must have a gospel focus.
