As 1 Thessalonians 5 concludes, Paul speaks to the church of Thessalonica about the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives in terms of spirit habits they must have in relations to God. Our spiritual being requires exercise if it is going to be healthy and productive. It is the will of God that Christians express joy, prayer, and gratitude in all things. We also must not quench the work of the Holy Spirit as we are in this sanctification process. This is the goal of the Christian to be fashioned into the image of Christ, which is sanctification. We have everything we need including the presence of God inside of us, but we have not come to full growth yet. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead will sanctify the Christian because the same power lives in you. He who promised is faithful and He will surely do it. Listen to this sermon about spiritual habits and sanctification in the thirteenth part of our In The Word series walking through 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians.
