In 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5, we see that Paul wanted to be with his church. Paul wanted to be with other believers. Paul was missing his church family. When is the last time that you have been burdened about a church family member? When is the last time you have been in agony over a brother or sister in Christ? God has called you here to have relationships with people. When you have relationships with people, you begin to love people. When we begin to love and care about other people, it has everything to do with that we are being shaped and molded into the image of Christ. Because Paul couldn’t be in person with the church of Thessalonica, Paul sent Timothy. Paul made a huge sacrifice by sending Timothy. Paul was willing to sacrifice his comfort because of his love of the church. Paul sends Timothy so that he can strengthen, bring support, and stabilize the church of the Thessalonica. We are called to strengthen and encourage one another. Ask God to use you. Ask God to reveal to you who needs to be strengthened and encouraged. Listen to this sermon about strengthening and encouraging others in the sixth part of our In The Word series walking through 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians.
