Stuttering is Cool

Inaugural walk for stuttering awareness

Listen Later

Episode #142: “A million things I need to say”. Reporting from the first ever 1k/5k walk for stuttering awareness, I bring you on a musical experience as I interview the performers, speakers, organizers and participants of this historic event.

We hear music and interviews from songwriters, Lil JaXe, who recently won the award for the Urban Music Award for the One to Watch 2013, Oliver Pigott of Pigott Brothers, Soul and R&B singer Dave Espeut, and bluegrass musician Bonnie Anderson.
I also chat with MPP Michael Prue, city councillor Janet Davis, Dr. Robert Kroll, executive director of The Speech and Stuttering Institute where the funds raised will go to reducing the long waiting list of people looking for speech therapy. The Institute never turns people away based on financial need.
East York is mentioned many times during this episode by passionate residents. Has this area of Toronto piqued your interest? Check out its colourful history at eastyork.org.
