A niche internet community is rising to infamous prominence.

For most of our listeners, the term incel is probably completely new to them, and for the rest their familiarity probably relies heavily on the connections this organization seems to have to a few of recent history’s most gruesome acts of mass violence. This community exists almost completely online and is made up of boys and men who have a desire to develop intimate sexual relationships, but for reasons outside their control are incapable of doing so and are therefore involuntarily celibate. In this episode, we explore the community, seek to understand its nature, what it signifies about society and large, and whether or not its existence is actually a problem.
