Our work in education and AI keeps bringing us back to one question: How do we help students use powerful new tools while making sure they develop the skills to think and learn for themselves?

We couldn’t ask for a better first guest to help us explore that than Mitch Weathers. Mitch is an educator, founder of Organized Binder, and bestselling author of Executive Functions for Every Classroom. He works with schools and colleges nationally and internationally, helping educators make some of the most essential—and often assumed—skills teachable: planning, organization, managing attention, and following through.

As AI takes on more of what students once had to do themselves, Mitch’s work gives us an important place to begin. What do learners need opportunities to practice? When should we reach for technology? And when might a little more time with paper, a pencil, and our own thoughts serve us better?
