Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was sworn in as the External Affairs Minister of India on May 30, 2019. He is widely considered as one of India’s foremost foreign policy leaders and was recently honored with the Padma Shri award, one of the highest civilian awards given in India. In his  41-year diplomatic career, Dr. Jaishankar served as India’s Foreign Secretary from 2015 to 2018, Ambassador to the United States from 2013 to 2015, Ambassador to China from 2009 to 2013, High Commissioner to Singapore from 2007 to 2009, and Ambassador to the Czech Republic from 2000 to 2004. He also served in other diplomatic assignments in India’s Embassies in Moscow, Colombo, Budapest, and Tokyo as well in the Ministry of External Affairs and the President’s Secretariat.
