"Indodana" is a traditional isiXhosa song which has been arranged for choral performance by South African composers Michael Barrett and Ralf Schmitt. The lyrics, translated into English, are: "The Lord has taken his son who lived amongst us / The Son of the Lord God was crucified / Father Jehovah". (Wikipedia)

Here's a breakdown of the lyrics and their translation:

Ngob'umthatile umtwana wakho, uhlale nathi -

"You took Your own son, who lived amongst us".

Indodana ka Nkulunkulu bayi'bethelela hololo helele -

"The Son of God was crucified [with a wordless expression of grief/a wail]".

Baba Yehova - "Oh Father, Jehovah"

Hololo - Expresses crying and has no direct translation

Zjem zja baba - An expressive phrase with no direct meaning, related to the sound of drums

The song is often performed as a prayer during Holy Week, asking God to stay present during the mourning period before the resurrection.
