Johannes Kretz (b. 1968) is an Austrian composer, who has long been associated with the practice of algorithmic composition, original view on harmony and synthesis of unique sounds. Earlier gaining his experience from the IRCAM Research Center, now composer is working and living in Vienna. In 2004 he was awarded the Austrian State Prize for his extraordinary creative work. Musicologist Ona Jarmalavičiūtė talked with this composer about the formulation of music in a search for logical roots of art.
