Infection Rate: What If We Lose Control?

Despite another week of sometimes double-digit infection increases, the government refuses a shutdown for social and economic reasons. Active cases of COVID-19 infection, in the 30s a week ago, are now in the 80s. We ask a medical doctor, a former health minister, and a vaccine distribution coordinator how we could be affected if cases continue to rise, and whether the measures in place now are likely to achieve their goal. The host is Kieron Murdoch.

  1. Dr. Dwayne Thwaites known to many as “Baba Thwaites”. He is a urologist in Antigua and Barbuda known for raising awareness of prostate cancer and promoting prostate cancer screening. 
  2. Raisa Charles, who joined us from Texas where she is a Certified Public Health Educator and Operations Section Chief over COVID-19 vaccine distribution with the City of Austin.
  3. Alvina Reynolds, who joined us from St. Lucia. She was a member of parliament from 2011 to 2016 with the St. Lucia Labour Party, and was minister of health, wellness, human services and gender relations during that time.
