In a true sign of collegiate effort, infectious disease (ID) physicians working in rural or remote areas with limited after-hours and on-call options formed a team to help manage increasing demand for ID advice.
The dedicated team provided out-of-hours ID and COVID-19 advice to seven Hospital and Health Services, and by sharing the workload the risk of burnout was reduced and provided broader insight into the ID needs and issues within health services outside of their normal scope.
