Inky Thoughts

Inking the Self 2: Authenticity and Skin - Dr Michael Rees

Listen Later

Hello Inky Thinkers and welcome to the thirteenth episode.
Today we are continuing where we left off 10 episodes ago with Matt the Inked Shrink, at least in a sense. We are once again talking about tattoos and self-identity and continuing the sub-series "Inking the Self" this time with a focus on the work of Michael Rees and his awesome book "Tattooing in Contemporary Society" and namely a theory of Michael´s presented in the book, the so called "quest for authenticity"

Luckily, and as you may already have put together from what is written above, I am as always not doing this on my own. I am joined by Dr. Michael Rees himself, and together us two tattoo loving sociologists, get into a great and thought provoking discussion, about tattoos and what they mean to our sense of self and identity. This is a truly educational one, for those of you curious about the sociology of tattoos, what they mean for our identity/sense of self, as well as how we are perceived by others and how people interact with tattooed people.

There is love, laughter, deep discussion, and something to learn!

Please enjoy and share with your friends, family, pets, and anyone else into tattoos!
