DMV Spotlight shines a light  on Sept 21, 2025 on efforts to treat addiction in the DC Metro area. Dr. Marquitta Duvernay, Senior Director of Addiction Recovery Services at Inova in Northern Virgina explains the options for those battling addiction as well as assistance for families and friends of those battling addiction.

Dr. Duvernay pointing to a recent Inova survey , “ Act on Addiction “ found that nearly half of adults in Northern Virginia are either personally impacted by substance abuse or know someone who is, with even higher numbers among millennials. Dr. Duverney also described the stigma of drug addiction as a barrier to treatment as well as promising data showing overdose deaths are down, crediting the availability of Narcan.
