In this episode, the hosts of Inquisitio are joined by H.C. Verma, experimental nuclear physicist and professor emeritus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Prof. H.C. Verma is a leading figure in outreach, especially in physics. He has created several hundred low-cost physicist experiments and has made several efforts on releasing courses online for students as well. In 2011, he set up the National Anveshika Network of India (NANI), a flagship programme of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), of which he is the national co-ordinator. For his contributions to outreach in India, he has been awarded the Padma Shree, one of the highest civilian honours, in 2020. He is well known for his work in work in authoring and publishing textbooks, the most popular being his volumes of "Concepts of Physics". To find more about Prof. H.C. Verma- Website: https://hcverma.inWikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._C._Verma In this episode, we discuss both education and Prof. H.C. Verma's journey.
In this episode, the hosts are joined by Harsh Mathur. Harsh is interested in Aerospace Engineering and Physics. He’s a member of Ongharak Flying Club, where he's gathered many hours piloting aircrafts. He also enjoys building aeromodelling. For the latter, Harsh has been a national finalist at the Boeing IIT aeromodelling championship. In the past, Harsh has scratch-built a wind tunnel as part of a research project for which he was an ISEF finalist. We hope the viewers enjoy this episode.
Qian Chu is an undergraduate student researcher at New York University Shanghai majoring in neuroscience. He’s interested in mental functions such as simulation and prediction, their functional roles in perception, memory, decision making, language, and so on. We hope you enjoy this episode!
In this episode, we are joined by Prof. Urjit Yajnik- theoretical physicist from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Prof Urjit Yajnik, after finishing his Master’s at IIT-Bombay, joined the Weinberg Theory group at UT Austin after studying elementary particles as part of his PhD. He has been teaching at IIT-Bombay for over 30 years, during which time he has held numerous administrative positions there and has had affiliations with leading institutions around the world. His research interests include Cosmology, Grand Unification Theories, and High Energy Physics. Currently, he is working on Supersymmetry and the Dark Sector- dark matter and dark energy. This conversation is highly informative not only for anyone looking to enter Physics but also for those interested in learning more about the discoveries that we, as a species, make at the frontier of human knowledge.
