I really should have tested the solar panel while I was making the video. I just tested it, and under my bright bench lights it puts out a miserable 4mA when I would have expected something closer to more than 100mA for that cell size.
The 18650 lithium cell has a capacity of 745mAh and upgrading it is made difficult by the fact that the unit has been sealed shut by gluing the glass on the front with silicone sealant.
While being functional, this unit is engineered to the edge for cost, and would at the very least need a different solar panel if the one supplied was useless like this one was.
The four charge status LEDs looked promising, but have been faked. They're just two pairs of LEDs in parallel. So you basically get 50% and 100% if that.
I can give you a link to this light, but don't pay more than about £6 and treat it as a project.
