After a week off, The Roundtable is back! Today's hosts, Alex Carmenaty and Christian Vazquez break down the latest headlines over the past two weeks "On The Banks."
Alex Carmenaty spoke with Rutgers women's rowing's Hannah Heideveld to preview the team's 2023 season, which begins on Saturday down in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. An All-American and U23 World Rowing Champion, Heideveld led Rutgers to successful strides in 2022, where the Scarlet Knights won 6 medals at the Big Ten Championships and placed 13th overall at the NCAA Championships, winning two separate semifinals races. Heideveld and company look to carry last season's success into a new year, where more is expected of the program.
Alex Carmenaty also talked with Rutgers baseball pitchers Jake Marshall and Ben Gorski. Both upperclassmen threw a combined no-hitter at Georgia Southern on March 11, the first no-hitter in the program's history since 1978. The Scarlet Knights won 6 out of 7 against three teams on their recent road trip to Georgia, where Marshall and Gorski helped close out two winning series. Rutgers continues its path at home this week, and travels to UConn this upcoming weekend.
The Roundtable also reviewed Rutgers men's lacrosse's recent two wins against Princeton and UMass, where the Scarlet Knights beat Princeton 14-13 at home in overtime, and UMass 11-5 up in Massachusetts. Dante Kulas led the way with 6 goals in these two games. Rutgers currently ranks number six in the nation and begins Big Ten play this Sunday at Ohio State.
Christian Vazquez to close the show talked one on one with Rutgers Gymnastics' Hannah Joyner. Joyner, along with teammates Emily Leese and Stephanie Zannella have qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships. Joyer went into her success this season and how she can carry it onto the national stage.
The Roundtable has returned, and the content continues to represent the competitive edge that comes "On The Banks."
