We continue to talk pitching with Tom Glavine here on "Inside the Game" brought to you by flexxCOACH and flexxCOACH VR. 

Tom tells of how he and Greg Maddox would talk about certain pitchers and how to use them for certain batters. The one thing that impressed Tom about Greg was how consistent he was on the mound. It was amazing to watch from the dugout how he had control over his pitchers and he never got off track. He would as Tom said "Tunnel" his pitches during a game. It was something that became key to the success of the pitching staff. 

When Leo Mazzone, became the pitching coach for the Braves, he told the staff about fastball command. They worked on it all the time. It worked very well for them. They also would throw two bullpen sessions in between starts. Tom also tells of how by accident he created his own second pitch with the change up by the way he held the ball. 

It is a great listen as to how pitching works in the majors. The things you need to do to be successful on the mound. All the things you work on in a bullpen session will help you in a game. You learn a great deal on how to pitch and to stay focused and take care of your body. 

One key Tom talks about is how young pitchers need to learn to slow the game down in their minds when they get in trouble in a game. Remember your pitches and try to relax your thoughts. Don't let the mind start to race out of control, trust yourself.
