I spoke to Issy Vine, an ex-MET communications officer turned MET police whistleblower. Issy has exposed the failings of the force when it comes to misconduct and predatory behaviour, sexual harassment, racism, and misogyny. Issy’s story is well worth a listen as it exposes many flaws in the institution of policing. She was failed at every turn.

Violence against women and girls has been in the spotlight in recent years. In 2021, Met police officer Wayne Couzens, murdered Sarah Everard, a young 33-year-old woman who was lured into Wayne's car. Wayne was a serving police officer and abused his power by flashing his police badge in order to abduct her.

And in 2020, two sisters, Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, were murdered in Wembley, and it later came to light that two policemen were jailed for taking photos of their lifeless bodies and sharing them in a WhatsApp group.

In 2020, two metropolitan police officers were sacked after an investigation found they had committed gross misconduct during the strip search of a 15-year-old schoolgirl who was wrongly accused and suspected of carrying cannabis.

Issy’s story gets to the heart of the issue as she tells her harrowing story about a fellow met police colleague who has been allowed to stay within the system despite his behaviour.
