Inside UConn TIP: making the tech of tomorrow, today

So you’re perfectly healthy, you eat well and exercise, but can you be sure your heart is healthy? A fib, short for atrial fibrillation impacts, 3 to 6 million people according to the CDC. These people could be anyone: overweight or thin, young and old. Another 3 million people out there have A Fib but don’t know it. Justin Chickles of Mobile Sense Technologies wants to find those people using a technology already on your wrist: a smartwatch.

The worst thing about cancer? Dogs get it too! But don't you worry, someone at TIP is doing something about it. Ashley Kalinauskas, CEO of Torigen Pharmaceuticals, created a vaccine (yes, you read that right)to treat cancer in dogs. She's saved over 250 pets with VetiVax and she's not stopping there!

We've got bad news, your hearing is only getting worse. Yes, you should definitely turn down your volume but no, you shouldn't worry! It's natural. Hair cells (the ones that make you hear) don't grow back. Or at least they don't yet. Our final stop on Inside UConn TIP is Frequency Therapeutics. They are creating a treatment to regrow these one-chance-only cells.
