We take a journey back to the night Jesus was betrayed: He is marched all over the city of Jerusalem and repeatedly stands before men who falsely accuse Him yet He refuses to defend Himself. He experiences heartbreaking loneliness as all of His followers and friends desert Him and He’s left in a dark dungeon for the night. As He contemplates the beating and crucifixion that confronts Him at daybreak, the depths of His grief and anxiety are overwhelming and refuse to allow Him rest. Why would anyone go through all of that? Why would the Son of God experience that level of insomnia? There is only one reason—His love for you and me.
