I am excited to welcome Charli Turner Thorne, Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Arizona State University, to inspired by her. Charli has earned much success at ASU over her two decades of coaching. She is the winningest coach in Sun Devil WBB history and number two in the Pac-12 in most career wins. Coach has led the program to the postseason 16 of the last 17 years and in 2016 she was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. To top it all off she has also earned a pair of gold medals with USA basketball.
What is most impressive about her is that the winning and losing is meaningless to her unless she has made a difference in the lives of her student-athletes and the people that she has an opportunity to impact through sport. She discusses her role as mentor, why she took a one season sabbatical and how it has impacted her life, her thoughts on media coverage of women’s sports, and who she has recently been inspired by. Side note- this podcast was recorded before the election so her inspired by her moment may seem slightly outdated, however, I know she still feels the same way. Enjoy and Be inspired!
