Intensity of NHL playoff hockey make the games worth watching

During an 82 game regular season, some casual NHL hockey fans may opt to watch the highlights, instead of watching a full game. However, when the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin, the game takes on another level. The Stanley Cup Playoffs could be the one tournament where an wild card team has a legitimate chance to win the Stanley Cup. The league reformatted and instead of seeding 1 thru 8, have implemented a new playoff system. The top three teams in each division make up the first 12 teams in the playoffs. The remaining four spots are filled by the next two highest-placed finishers in each conference, based on regular-season record and regardless of division.
