  • Intimacy When You’re Exhausted

    Let's talk about s3x, baby
Let's talk about you and me
Let's talk about all the good things
And the bad things that may be
    Let's talk about s3x.

Anchored in 1 Corinthians 7:3-5, Shawn and Bridget work through a passage that’s often misused, and they talk about why the church has been slow to teach on it well. Along the way, they cover:

    • What it means to give your spouse authority over your body, and why that calls for cherishing, not dominating
    • Why speaking up about pain or discomfort matters more than quietly pulling away
    • Three simple ground rules for your marriage bed
    • “NSA” (no strings attached): a way to kiss and connect without it having to lead anywhere
    • Making space for your spouse to decompress, with no strings attached
    • Why intimacy can be an all-day thing, and how choosing love often comes before the feeling
    • Why it’s okay for your kids to see you hug and kiss
    • Catching “the little foxes” (Song of Solomon 2:15) that quietly steal tenderness from a marriage

This episode isn’t meant to be used as a weapon. If you want to share it with your spouse, listen to it together.

Intentional is a podcast for couples who want more than fine.

  • Who is Running Your House, You or Your Kids?

When was the last time you and your spouse had a real conversation that wasn't "who's got pickup?" If your only communication lately happens in passing — one of you headed to practice, the other to rehearsal — this episode is for you.

Shawn and Bridget get honest about what their calendar looked like before kids versus now, and the exact moment they realized the schedule had quietly become the boss of their marriage. It didn't happen overnight — it happened one sign-up, one practice, one "it's just one more night" at a time. And when you stop deciding together, your kids get the calendar and your marriage gets whatever's left over.

Rooted in Colossians 3:17-20, this episode is both a wake-up call and a game plan for taking your "we" back — before there's nothing left to give it.

  • Is It Normal to Fall Out of Love?

Have you ever looked at your spouse and thought, "I don't feel the way I used to"? You're not broken — and neither is your marriage. In this episode, Shawn and Bridget get honest about their own Year 8, when the love they felt for each other had gone cold, and unpack why "falling out of love" isn't a red flag — it's just the end of the honeymoon phase.

They dig into the difference between emotional love and chosen love, why feelings make a terrible driver but a great passenger, and how choosing to love your spouse before you feel it is actually what brings the feeling back. Anchored in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, this episode will change how you think about what love was always meant to be.

If you've ever wondered whether it's normal to fall out of love — this one's for you.

About Intentional Marriage

From the publisher's feed

We started Intentional Marriage because we kept seeing the same thing over and over couples so busy running kids to practice, lessons, and activities that by the end of the day, there was nothing left for each other. The kids' schedules got all the intention. The marriage got whatever was left over.
