In this special episode for International Women's Day, Peter tells the story of the first woman to race in the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500-Janet Guthrie.
Having learnt to fly an aircraft at 13 years old, Janet Guthrie is no ordinary human being.
Ever since her early forays into motorsport with her first car, a Jaguar XK120, Janet was hooked and spent the next twenty years racing all over America. Always adventuring, always indulging her passion for racing.
Despite constant scrutiny and criticism, Janet proved that she or indeed any other woman was capable to racing with the very best in the world.
Janet's exploits laid the path for many other ladies to take the grid. One of whom is Katherine Legge. Katherine very kindly took time to star on The Peter MacKay Motorsport Podcast and you can listen to this episode via the link below.
