Nalin Rai is a development professional based out of Bangalore presently and is in the business of writing for more than thirty years. The green shoots of writing emerged in his school days which was catalysed by his father’s proddings to undertake his legal work related documentation since he was in class V.

Born in Gorakhpur in UP, he did his schooling up to class X in Kendriya Vidyalaya Gorakhpur and feels that the foundation of schooling through Kendriya Vidyalaya facilitated in developing a diversifying outlook as Kendirya Vidyalaya is a melting pot of cultural influence of diversified geographies.

While doing his graduation from Allahabad University, as it was the Centennary year of Allahabad University he got an opportunity to edit an anthology on Allahabad University which kindled the interest in research and it became the foundation for writings that he ventured into, eventually.

He did his M Phil in History from Delhi University, used to teach history in various colleges on assignment basis and ventured into journalism around the same time, making his debut with the Financial Express where he was the main features writer for more than three years writing on various diversified topics like Business and Economics, Information TEchnolgoy, Architecture, Gender etc.

He was the main Features Writer for Dalal Street Journal, the first Indian magazine on Stock markets and was the main Features writer with IS Computers Wolrd. Subsequently he joined the apex development institution of country NABARD which provided him an opportunity to travel around the country from Himachal Pradesh to Mumbai to Punjab and to Karnataka. First hadn exporuse and experience with the developmental ethos from ground operned a new vista of writing focusing on development around the countryside. He contributed to numerous stories of such kind for The BetterIndia.

He is also pursuing Ph D in Economics.

Nalin Rai through his writings tries to explore the ordinary, the mystique and as a movie buff tries to interpret the cinematic portrayal through an analysis of the societal structures. He has been in the business of write for more than a decade, has already published 3 books, viz., Why I Run? An Exhilarating Running Saga of Alpana Agarwal, Love and Pain; Four Letter Words, but different manifestations, and Milestone Beckons. Apart from that he has contributed to 4 different anthologies.

He is the winner of Emily Dickinson Award for poetry, Tagore Commemorative Author Honor 2023 and

International Excellence Award 2023 for spectacular contribution in the Category of Male Writers.
