Death Valley Jack is a legend! He has competed in 14 races across the famous Badwater Ultramarathon - a 135 mile race that reaches temperatures of 50 degrees centigrade!

I so enjoyed my conversation with him, he is enthusiastic and positive and talks of his challenge in a way that really and truly almost had me signing up myself there and then, particularly for the hallucinations which he claims to love! Listening to his experiences and the gathering together of his support team and of the friendships and fun along the way, it is almost possible to start to forget the extreme physical challenge and how astounding it is that Jack keeps going back for more. So now I really am contemplating putting it on my 'to do list' - I have a few races on there! This is because of Jack's passion and energy - he spoke of how people have described him as an inspiration - and he is, in every sense - encouraging and humble - and yet showing such fortitude and strength and the ability to keep going through adversity and keep optimistic.
