Today we feature Jo Ann Gramlich. She is an award-winning author and speech-language pathologist who provides evaluation and remediation services for children with communication disorders in early intervention and preschool programs at Pediatric Educational and Diagnostic Services-ECMC, Buffalo, New York. She has worked for the Buffalo Public School District of Western New York where she provided speech-language therapy for elementary and middle school-aged children. She holds a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the State University of New York College at Buffalo.
She is a member of the American Speech–Language–Hearing Association. She presented a Parent Involvement Research Paper on Involving Parents in School Programs at the ASHA Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. She also is a founding faculty member of the International Academy of Universal Self Mastery (IAUSM, 2020).
Jo Ann is the author of Talk, Play, And Read With Me Mommy: Interactive Activities to Enhance Your Child’s Language Development From Birth to Age Five, (Authorhouse, May 27, 2014). This book provides parents, caregivers, or anyone who interacts with little ones creative activities and games to help enhance or strengthen children’s language skills during the early years. This book Talk, Play, And Read With Me Mommy received a 2018 NABE Pinnacle Book Achievement Award in the Category of Best Book in Parenting and Family from the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs.
She also published Talk, Play, And Read With Me Mommy Interactive eBook: Interactive Activities to Enhance Your Child’s Language Development From Birth to Age Five, (Jo Ann Gramlich, May 11, 2019). This eBook includes interactive games filled with colorful animation, sound effects, and audio recordings that will make a child’s learning experience enjoyable and fun.
Her other book is titled Talk, Play, And Read With Me Daddy: Interactive Activities to Enhance Your Child’s Language Development From Birth to Age Five, (Authorhouse, July 16, 2020). This book features an extra chapter of bonus activities for Daddy and his infant, toddler, or preschooler. The Mommy and Daddy book can be used simultaneously by moms, dads, or caregivers when interacting with their little one. These books can also be used individually by anyone who engages with children as they offer activities and games that are ideal for providing excellent opportunities that help encourage a child to talk and develop speech and language skills while having fun.
Her books were inspired by her personal interest and passion for helping young children and watching them learn and achieve. She believes every child has a voice that should be heard and it all begins by empowering a child to tap into their imaginations and skillful mind. She feels her philosophy of making learning fun will bring out the best in children and help them explore their own creative abilities.
In addition, Jo Ann presents and speaks at both parent and parent educator trainings, group workshops, organizational and community events, and state conferences. This allows her the opportunity to connect with parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals from various agencies to help bring awareness of the importance of early intervention and language development for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
