Salamon’s book, Assuming a Body, is a provocative read that engages the materiality of non-normatively gendered bodies. In the interview, we discuss how psychoanalysis, phenomenology and queer theory are all ripe places for engaging new understandings of transgender and genderqueer bodies. We also discuss some of the theoretical issues that Salamon has with some transgender/queer work and the social constructionist divide. A must listen for anyone interested in performativity or queer theory!
