Today on Student-Athlete Combo we interviewed Patrick Watkins, a midfielder on the DePaul University soccer team. Patrick is a DMV native who has been playing club soccer since he was a little kid. In the interview, we discuss the importance of youth and High School soccer in playing club affiliate soccer for the benefits of playing at the next level. 

Patrick also explained the student-athlete life at Depaul in season and how he has been managing to study Chemistry and be a threat on the field for his team. He talks about resources that are getting him through school that was also mentioned in the “Tips and Tricks” episode of this podcast!

He is a big contributor to DePaul and it started right away when he joined the team in 2018. We talked about his transition from the club and high school soccer to college and how he was able to see a lot of time on the field early. This is something that is harder than people think, playing time doesn’t come easy! Listening to him really expresses the importance of hard work and this episode really acts as a motivation podcast!
