Stephen Harvey is an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. The poem is in homage to his mother, Betty Harvey, RN (pictured here with the author), who inspired and encouraged him on his journey through college and medical school.
