In this episode, we sit down with Zafer Kizilkaya whose passion for marine biology and photography brought him to the Indo-Pacific region and onto assignments for National Geographic. He has since gone onto establish marine protected areas in the Eastern Mediterranean, having won multiple prestigious awards including the "Best co-management award for small scale fisheries in the Mediterranean" by the United Nations Food & Agricultural Organization. 

We discuss his reasons for following this career path and how he's fighting to protect marine ecosystems while protecting the livelihoods of local communities through sustainable fisheries.
