This week we begin a new sermon series in the book of Acts. Written by Luke, it is a continuation of what he recorded in his gospel account. The gospel of Luke ends with Jesus ascending back to heaven. His account in Acts begins with Christ's ascension. This is crucial to Christianity because of all the religions, ours is the only one founded on a man who is still living (1Timothy 2:5). The book of Acts records for us the Holy Spirit's working in and through the early Church and ends abruptly. For us today we should appreciate that because we in fact are the continuation of Acts today--the risen Lord's work in His Church.
