Intro To Prayer - Part 6

Listen Later

Pastor Jeremy shares Wednesday in Glendive.

Matt 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
● First 3 lines of the Lord’s prayer are about
God...Your Name, Your Kingdom, & Your Will
● Next 3 lines of the Lord’s prayer are about us...give
us, forgive us, & lead us
● You could say it this way, “after halftime we pray
about provision, pardon, & protection”
● Is interesting that provision takes care of your
present, pardon takes care of your past, and
protection takes care of your future.

We can come to two main conclusions when praying
this verse:
1. Natural things do not lie outside the realm of
prayer.

a. If food is what you need, If a job is what you
need, If health is what you need, If money is
what you need...these are all considered
“daily bread”

i. John 6 Jesus said “I am the bread of
life” whoever comes to me will never be
hungry, whoever believes in Me will
never thirst.

ii. Ex. 15, 16, 17 God provided water,
mana & meat.

b. If peace is what you need, if sanity is what
you need, if a sound mind is what you need,
acceptance, purpose, belonging

i. Mark 5 Jesus refers to the woman as
daughter

ii. John 4 Jesus has a conversation with a
woman and she is shocked He is talking
to her, His disciples are shocked He is
talking to her...yet He offers her a “seat
at the table”

2. The importance of a daily dependence on God.

a. Jehovah Jireh the Lord our Provider Gen
22:14

b. Deut 29:5 And I have led you forty years in
the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn
out on you, and your sandals have not worn
out on your feet.

i. God tells them through Moses that all
their needs have been met, for 40
years. They were led during the day,
and during the night. They had bread
and meat to eat. They were clothed and
their feet shod. When enemies arose
God delivered them into their hands
and their lands were given to the tribes
as an inheritance.

c. 1 Chron 29:14 (NIV) “But who am I, and who
are my people, that we should be able to
give as generously as this? Everything comes
from you, and we have given you only what
comes from your hand.

d. Matt 6:31 “Therefore do not worry, saying,
‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’
or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these
things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly
Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be
added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry
about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about its own things. Sufficient for the day is
its own trouble.

Natural things do not lie outside the realm of prayer, we
must learn to depend on Him to meet all our needs
according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
1. He’s not too busy for you and your “daily living”
2. He’s not got other more important things to worry
about.
3. He’s not put you in the “dog house” nor does He
have you “sleeping on the couch” as a child of the
Most High God.
