Proverbs WisdomIntroduction: Proverbs 1:1-7June 1, 2014Please turn to Proverbs 1:1-7:Michael’s Personal Goal: In the end will I have been wise or a foolChallenge: Today through August 1st read a chapter of Proverbs a day noting specific themes addressed Biblical Proverbs: Beyond being a book in the Bible, they are God given, practical, short, pithy statements that are easy to hold onto A few things:1.Proverbs is practical, not theoretical“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.” Proverbs 12:12.Proverbs is about principles, not promises“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6Biblical Wisdom (hak-ma): To become skillfully advantaged in relationships, responsibilities and decisions due to a greater work that God is doing in one’s lifeAuthors (1:1): God breathed, yet a portion of King Solomon’s (David’s son) collection that features other contributors (ref.1Kings 3:6-15, 1Kings 10:6-9) The Believer and Answered Prayer“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:7-8App: When you pray the very things that are on God’s mind miracles begin to happen App: What would you ask for?
