So today we are doing an episode swap, we are introducing you to a new podcast, American Origin Stories, a podcast about identity, ancestry, and untold history. Specifically, season 1 explores the foundational ways to learn more about your roots and addresses the question, why is it so difficult for Black Americans to trace their ancestors? On this episode “Know Your Genes: DNA & Personal Identity” they discuss genetics. There are many ways to explore our ancestry - one modern option is DNA. Race may not be a gene or real, but technology now allows us to explore our identity by looking at our genes with direct to consumer genetic testing (e.g., 23andMe, Ancestry.com and more). Join Chris and Chauniece as they continue to explore their origin stories through their DNA and consider the ways in which the results impact their personal perspectives.
