Following the release of his acclaimed album Barely Making Much and a series of self-released projects, Ugandan producer Masaka Masaka returns with XA on Creaked Records, a three-track EP that finds him further exploring the more experimental fringes of electronic music.

Written between Kampala and Switzerland, XA takes its name from the dual concepts of 'Extended Architecture' and 'Extreme Aspherical', reflecting an approach to composition in which rhythms, textures and structures remain in a state of constant flux. Drawing on techno, grime, jungle and deconstructed club, the record resists easy categorisation, instead finding its footing somewhere between these disparate influences.

On Sunday 4 October, Inverted Audio founder and editor-in-chief DJ Antepop took to the decks at Café 1001 on Brick Lane for a three-hour, all-vinyl session spanning ambient, deep house, dub techno, IDM and experimental electronic music.

Filmed and recorded for Radio 1001, the session explores the sounds that define Inverted Audio's musical identity, with every record hand-picked from the racks of Inverted Audio Record Store in Peckham and available to purchase.

Moving fluidly between atmospheric ambient, deep house, dub techno, experimental and IDM the selection reflects the music we spend our days discovering, listening to and championing through both Inverted Audio magazine and record store.

More than just a DJ set, it's a journey through the Inverted Audio universe — three hours of carefully curated music that brings our editorial perspective and passion for vinyl to life, one record at a time.

After almost two decades of releasing music, German producer Sven Tasnadi returns to his roots with Explorer, a four-track EP that finds him reconnecting with the deeper, more minimal sounds that first drew him towards house music.

Our pick from the EP is the title track, a wonderfully hazy excursion into dub techno's more atmospheric reaches. Anchored by a deep, rolling kick and grooving sub, moody chord stabs flare up between shuffling hi-hats all while airy, vaporous pads gradually unfurl overhead.

Jason Cabaniss shines a light on Cport Cistema's "Body Needs." on 100% Silk. The Lithuanian producer's moonlit breaks still hold up. Highlight "pushpull" pairs sliced vocals with crisp breakbeat energy, blending melancholic garage and balearic for a perfect night-bus-home closer.

Manchester-based producer GuestWorlds returns with Rare Earth, a deeply immersive second release following his self-released 2023 debut EP. Self-described as a “dubbed-out ambient fantasia”, the album weaves together irregular time signatures, field recordings and found sounds through lush, carefully layered electronic environments.

Electro-ambient trio Yayoba release "Matkat" in October via Not Not Fun, refining their shape-shifting blend of deep synth meditations and fourth-world symphonics first heard on debut 'A Maze of Glass'. Standout "Transparent Waves" layers burbling, shimmering synths into celestial, late-night sound divinations — scruffy, feverish, and moss-strewn in spirit.

Big thanks to markmechanik for coming all the way from Salzburg to play the shop last weekend — a proper leftfield house and experimental electronics set, all vinyl, all dug from his own collection. Not many DJs make that trip for a Saturday afternoon in Peckham.

We premiere Voltmar's own reinterpretation of his Kelovolt original, taken from Diese Fragile Praesenz on Minimood — a remarkable debut LP bolstered by remixes from cv313, Anthony Linell, Black Merlin and Die Wilde Jagd. Voltmar's version is pitch-black dub techno: droney, fizzing and coiling with mounting intensity from start to finish.
