Caring about the world can seem like a big job. There are many terrible and difficult things happening in it. But once we know about these difficult things, we can see how Christ can use us to help our global neighbors. 

The first step is to inform ourselves. We need to know about big political and social events happening in other countries. We should hear from voices who are in these countries, speaking about their lives. We can read articles and watch the news. I suggest you watch a different news channel every once in a while, to see how others are talking about worldwide issues. We trust God to be the giver of all Truth and we can’t know how to help the world through Christ unless we know what the world needs, so let’s start listening. Read reports from missionaries in these countries.  It will enhance your prayer life.

In Acts, Paul writes that we should “pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” This means we need to be aware of the worldwide Church, as well as those who do not know Jesus. If we prayerfully listen to what is happening globally, we will find ways to reach our world for the Lord Jesus Christ. This is Luis Palau.
