In this episode, TCS podcaster Scotia Smith explores the Black Atlantic: Power, People, Resistance exhibition which is currently on at the Fitzwilliam Museum. The first half of the episode is in conversation with Shea Hendry, discussing how the exhibition interrogates the legacies of the transatlantic slave trade and who is afforded the power to shape how history remembers them. The second half of the episode (23:23) is in conversation with Darold Cuba, who explores the University of Cambridge's ties to slavery and abolition, the intersections of race and class, and the systemic work that remains to be done to dismantle the legacies of white supremacy both within the university and beyond.
