Do I want God back? This is the central question, isn’t it, for those who feel God has walked out of their lives. In dark times—after the death of a close friend or loved one, a horrible accident, acts of terrorism, natural disasters, and other human tragedies—God can seem infinitely far away. Yet no matter how deeply we bury grief in our souls, it doesn’t go away. In the end, God wants us to discover He’s still there with us. Even when we were the ones who did the leaving in the first place.
It’s startling to realize the implications of God’s unconditional love, mercy, and grace. Like the prodigal son’s father in Luke 15, God isn’t disillusioned with us. He never had any illusions to begin with.
Maybe you have been taught that it’s impossible to come back to God. You may have felt God wouldn’t take you back anyway. But it’s not too late. God’s holy word, the holy Bible promises: “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and He will forgive our sins and purify us from all impurity.”
The course of your life could change today based on a single decision you’ll make, either to consciously lock God out or open the door of your heart and invite him to come back in. Why wait another day? Say yes to Jesus Christ.
