Kevin detailed the various categories that led to a higher inflation print for May 2022. He went over how food, housing, & gas were the 3 highest areas in the CPI. Record levels of gasoline have led to $5 a gallon across America.
Food increases around fish, poultry, meat, & eggs led to a 10.1% year of year. Gasoline was at record levels of 48.7% year over year. Lastly, shelter rose to 5.5%. Kevin highlighted the sentiment of the Consumer Confidence Index and how it relates to when consumption goes down in the economy.
The Producer Price Index will be out June 14th & Fed Meeting will happen June 15th, 2022. This is worth paying attention to and seeing where the economy will go from here.
