Ipsos polling, Twindemic in Denmark & Back to school stress and debt help

Listen Later

ch. 1: Ipsos possibilities polling
As the federal election campaign gets tighter, a new poll provides hints on where the parties could see their support grow or shrink — and appears to show a growing split in the progressive vote between the Liberals and the NDP. The Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News suggests that split could create an opening for the Conservative Party, which not only has the most locked-in support but is also seen as the campaign with the most momentum.
Guest: Darrell Bricker, President of IPSOS public affairs
ch. 2: View from Victoria with Vaughn Palmer
This was supposed to be the week for phase 4 of the pandemic restart program. Instead, the BC government is trying to manage the pandemic that just won’t go away.
The Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer is here with his take on the day's headlines.
ch. 3: Denmark Twindemic
The usual annual viral infections are coming back with a vengeance. Likely due to society reopening, restrictions all but gone, and international travel resuming. COVID lockdowns, less social contacts, no traveling, and massive amounts of hygiene habits pretty much wiped out things like the annual influenza season. Now epidemiologists here are warning we would be headed for a twindemic, COVID and ferocious return of the usual yearly infections.
Guest: Shane Woodford, Freelancer in Denmark, former CKNW
ch. 4: Managing money stress, debt and Mental Health during this back to school season
The discussion of student loans are paramount during this election in the wake of COVID-19. Political parties are offering everything from tax breaks, to interest free repayments, all the way to student loan forgiveness. A new survey shows post-secondary students are facing their own hurdles around financial and mental stress. More than a third of young adults surveyed said their mental health has been negatively impacted by financial pressure due to their post-secondary education. And for 3-in-10, their education could be at risk entirely.
Guest: Stacy Yanchuk Oleksy, Interim CEO of Credit Counselling Canada
