The Hilsa Band is a podcast about Bengali migrants in NYC. As the name suggests ‘Hilsa’ is the fish that unites Bengalis of India and Bangladesh on either side of a man-made line. I am an Indian Bengali of Bangladeshi heritage, who's lived in 7 cities in 3 different countries, and call both Kolkata and NYC home.
