Wanda’s sale of IronMan to Advance Publications probably couldn’t have come at a worse time for a company whose entire business model is the production of mass participation events. With athlete event fees making up close to 50% of their revenue, right now IronMan is simply “postponing” races and not offering refunds. The sale is supposed to close sometime this quarter, so what does Advance Publications have in mind to keep fans satisfied besides virtual races? And what happens in 2021 & beyond to grow the business and generate new revenue?
