Have Fun and Play

Is breaking up hard to do?

Listen Later

In this episode, JT and Tom spread some hype, or at least tentative love, to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The augmented reality game is free to play and worthwhile for Harry Potter fans who are longing for a successor to Pokemon Go. Both agree that the gameplay offers more than Pokemon Go, but is also more challenging to pick up and play.

Meanwhile, Anna finally got around to playing Dangerous Driving. From some of the creators behind the Burnout series, Dangerous Driving tries to pick up where Burnout left off in 2008. The bones are there, with the game looking and feeling like Burnout. Some key components are missing in the initial release, namely online competitive racing and an in-game soundtrack. Anna rates it 2 slices of bacon for new initiates, and a satisfying 3 slices for true fans of the original series.

Finally, Tom leads a discussion on when and how to break up with a game. Some games die a slow death, while others are quickly forgotten. Then there are the good friends that you can visit with from time-to-time, and it’s just like going home again. JT rarely breaks up with a game until she completes it. Myron tends to wrap things up quick or abandon games all together once he gets bored. Tom decisively knows when a game isn’t his type and easily discards them in favor of others. Anna has grown more accustomed to breaking up quickly given how many games compete for priority. It’s a great time to be a gamer!
