Is Compensation Coming to College Athletics?

NCAA President Mark Emmert has indicated that big changes could be on the horizon for college athletics.

In a move that surprised many, Emmert along with the board of governors announced the formation of a working group to explore the possibility of allowing college athletes to receive compensation for use of their names, images and likenesses. Heading the group will be Big East commissioner Val Ackerman and Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith.

Emmert has made it abundantly clear that the group is not considering any option that would involve paying student athletes as employees.

Tim Maitland, former University of Texas Longhorn baseball player and current VP of Business Development at MarketScale, joined Tyler Kern in the studio to give his thoughts on the story and what this could potentially mean for college athletics.
