Is COVID Under Control? We Talk to Dr. George Roberts

Listen Later

It's March 28th and the month is ending. And we've had a harsh month - COVID deaths, the 6:00 PM curfew, bars and restaurants shutdown, and virtual schooling throughout. But now, more than 25,000 people have been vaccinated, and active infections have been slowly decreasing, though they are still above 300. New daily cases have been going down too. Now the curfew is being relaxed to 8:00 PM. Schools could reopen in April. Bars and restaurants can seat patrons again. So is COVID-19 officially under control? if so, how can we keep it that way, as restrictive measures are relaxed?

The host is Kieron Murdoch. The guest is:

  1. Dr. George Roberts, a medical doctor here in Antigua and Barbuda and a well-known Ear Nose and Throat Specialist. He authored an article published back in the middle of February in which he argued for second national shutdown to combat what was then a frightening and rapid increase in active cases which was approaching 400. Instead, a 6:00 PM curfew went into effect along with other measures to reduce socialization.

  2. This programme first aired on NewsCo Observer Radio 91.1 FM on March 28, 2021. Get the latest news from Antigua and Barbuda at the Antigua Observer online.
