Divorce has become a completely normal and acceptable option in marriages that are struggling. In the case of a marriage with an abusive husband divorce is not only acceptable but seen as the only option. However, the Bible only gives two reasons for divorce that are acceptable and physical abuse is noticeably missing from that list. Why is this? Was physical abuse not a problem before the 21st century? Should Christians be allowed to divorce their abusive spouses? Are there other options they might have beyond divorce.
