Matthew 26:17-25

We all run into people who have passed into the zone of irrationality that goes with guilt, or shame, or sometimes just embarrassment. When you do, and even when they try to push you away, try once this week to engage with them in a way that allows them to talk themselves through it . . . . Don't offer advice; don't ask pointed questions; just stay in conversation in a way that lets them know that you are just there, with them and for them, as they work their way through it.
