Welcome to Public Cloud for Public Good, a bi-weekly newsletter and podcast focused on making the world a better place. Whether that’s making peoples lives better, building services in the public & third sectors or thinking about coding more sustainably. This podcast is hosted by Aaron Booth, a Cloud Sustainability Consultant based in the UK.
This week Aerin is joined by two guests, Gerry McGovern, author of the book World Wide Waste as well as Victoria Harvey, co-founder at Clima. Gerry is a public speaker who is against waste and bad practices in tech, particularly when it comes to smartphones, and laptops. Victoria’s digital marketing company Clima work with media, advertising and production companies to embed sustainability into their ethos and operations. Today we ask the question, is it time to rage against the cloud? Is the cloud being used in a sustainable way and what can be done to improve practices?
Victoria would like our £500 donation to be split between the Pakistan flooding disaster as well as Eco Brixs, a closed-loop recycling model to help tackle the issue of plastic waste and unemployment in Uganda. For more information and to support both causes you can visit these websites respectivly:
